The site includes a range of independent-learning units, ranging from 1 hour to 10 hours in length, and at introductory, intermediate and advanced levels.

See the units on, for example:

  • Learning from Audio-Visual Resources
This 3 hour intermediate unit aims to help develop skills for learning from audio visual material. It aims to help you identify different kinds of evidence (visual evidence and interview evidence) and to make the most of using a video in your learning.
  • Reading and Notetaking
This 12 hour unit aims to introduce you to the basic study skills of reading and note-taking. You are asked to think about how you currently read and take notes, and are introduced to techniques that may help you improve both these processes.
  • Essay Writing
This 12 hour introductory unit considers 'what is good writing?'. It discusses why good writing skills are important and highlights some basic technical and stylistic things to consider during the writing process.
