Below is an image of women breaking bricks. Due to a lack to stone, bricks are a cheaper substitute to be used with the concrete. It is very common for women to break bricks for very little money; for example, for breaking 100 bricks they may earn as little as 45p. After breaking bricks, many women will go on to a second job, such as cleaning houses, returning to their home after 7 or 8 pm to cook for their family - the only meal of the day.

In the image below, a lady is trying to find anything useful or edible from the skip. Very often whole families, including children, will search together. There are obvious health hazards associated with this type of activity.
